Field Trip to Dewberry Farm

Our field trip to Dewberry Farm is my absolute favorite! And today was no exception. We.had.the.BEST.day! The kids were wonderful. The weather was perfect. And there was hardly anyone at Dewberry Farm, which made it the perfect day!  Thank you to all of the parents that went and helped.

Check out the sweetest class EVER sporting their brand new shirts!

Can we go back? Please!

Fall Follies!

Yesterday was our Fall Follies Parade. The kids had so much fun dressing up in their costumes. I must admit I had lots of fun too!

This is the perfect time for me to introduce you to Ms. McBride. She is my lovely and wonderful student teacher! She will be with our class until the beginning of December.

Here are some of the fun activities we did throughout October!

Mummy Writing

Cookie Monster Shape Sorting and Addition

Monster in a Jar Writing

And my favorite: The Ghost Story - Which Ghost Will Spin?

Famous First Grade Scientists - Caroline and Marshall

Well, once again I have dropped the ball on blogging. So sorry. We have had 2 awesome scientists since I last blogged. Caroline did a really neat experiment for the class. She lit a candle. Then, she took a bottle with the bottom cut off and placed a plastic bag over the end. She pointed the bottle towards the candle and lightly hit the bottom of the bottle, sending a puff of air out of the other end, which blew out the candle. The kids thought this was just the coolest thing. Take a look!

Marshall's experiment was also great! He tied a piece of cereal onto the end of a string of yarn and then taped the string to the end of a desk. He then comb my hair, creating lots of static electricity. Then, Marshall took the comb and placed it near the cereal piece. When he moved the comb the cereal moved with it. Super, cool!

Busy Learning Lots!

We have been so busy learning these past 2 weeks! Take a look at some of the wonderful things going on in Room 104! I am so proud of my sweet firsties!

We learned about Christopher Columbus and his 3 ships and made these cool messages in a bottle.

We made a class book titled If I Were An Explorer.

We are using our socks for skip counting by 2s and odd and even numbers.

I am so excited about our new bulletin board, Even and Odd Street! We made these awesome houses when learning about odd and even numbers.

In science we are learning about weather. We made a fun web of weather words.

Have a great week!
